Raymond-Casco Historical Society News The RCHS is actively seeking new members and donated items relating to the history of Raymond and Casco. To donate items please call someone from the Collections Committee: Elizabeth Bullen at 207.998.3123; Adam Grant at 207.232.8224; Pam Grant at 207.655.2438; or Skip Watkins 207.756.3533 or 207.655.2194. RCHS meetings (second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm) are now being held at the museum, which is located on Route 302, almost to the Naples line in Casco. The museum is quite an eye catcher from the highway. It has a magnificent painted mural depicting the Raymond steamboat boat landing dropping off passengers, and the Casco Stagecoach line picking them up. We are always looking for new members; please consider coming to the next meeting. Please join the RCHS as we continue on this exciting venture and plan to preserve our history for future generations. The Raymond-Casco Historical Museum will be a wonderful attraction for tourists, our summer residents, and a place to educate our residents and young people about the history of our towns. All will be able to understand how Raymond and Casco early settlers conquered the challenges they faced with less than we have today. Generations of the same families that settled in Raymondtown soon after the Revolutionary War still reside in this area, with many often in the same homestead. In order for the museum to be open to the public throughout the summer months many volunteers will be needed. RCHS members are asking area residents to please consider donating time to the new museum and are urged to sign up now. You may call Anne Miller at 207.627.4989 if you are interested. Let’s make our museum a wonderful place… a place we can all be proud of ...a place we can say we all took part in. Join us today and get involved. For more info about the Raymond-Casco Historical Museum call Wayne Holmquist, RCHS President at 207.655.7672. |
